A Night of Art, Space, and Connection

Last Friday night, I found myself wandering the rooms of the Bridgeport Art Center, taking in not just the art—but the building itself. If you know me, you know I love old warehouses. The hardwood floors, exposed brick, that slightly gritty, industrial feel. This space used to be the Spiegel Catalog Warehouse, and it was so cool to see it now filled with artist studios, galleries, and people lingering with artwork instead of catalogs.

It meant a great deal to have Mykonos Blush selected for the Abstract Expressions juried show on the third floor. The exhibit will be up through the beginning of March, and all of the pieces are for sale. Seeing my work outside of my studio—living on a wall, being noticed, starting conversations—never gets old. It always feels a little surreal in the best way.

What stood out to me most, though, was the people. Art really does bring folks together. I ran into a handful of familiar faces in a sea of hundreds—lots of hugs, catching up, sharing stories, and standing in front of each other’s work. It felt communal and alive.

I shared a few more snippets from the evening over on Instagram if you’d like to take a look.

And if you need a nudge: explore your local art scene. Support your local artists. Walk into a gallery. Take a class. You don’t have to be an artist to belong in these spaces—you just have to be curious.
