Stop waiting for inspiration. Let your surroundings lead instead.
Thank you for joining my community! I hope you love Everyday Explorations: Home Edition. Here is your Scavenger Hunt & Supplies List.
During the light and shadow module, I show my love for the way light interacts with shadows in the main area beside the dining room. There is warmth and inspiration that can come from observing and creating in such light-filled spaces. And it's a perfect way to loosen up and begin our workshop!
This module is all about finding patterns in items you already love at home—bedding, rugs, pillows, even brick walls—and using them to spark fresh ideas. Let’s head to the studio and play.
We’ll explore color stories inspired by your surroundings—mixing, matching, or going straight into your journal. I use a gel plate here, but simple household items work too. I actually shared a video years ago where I used household items to pull prints. You can check it out here.
Before I go out into "the wild" and look for texture in my home, I wanted to share a few inexpensive items I am using to pull texture. I am using Stamping Foam and Kneaded Eraser with an ink pad.
Journal Page 1: “Free Love”
We layer our found elements using tracing paper, palette knife texture, and a carbon-traced floral for an urban, peeled-poster look.
Journal Page 2: “Joy”
Gel plate backgrounds, floral prints on tracing paper, and pops of color with gold accents and molding paste.
