Art Friends, Graffiti Finds & Bringing Chicago Weather to Florida
Saint Petersburg, baby!
I got to take a little 3 day break from the studio and head to Saint Petersburg FL last week. Besides bringing Garrett’s Chicago-Mix Popcorn, I apparently also brought the Chicago weather with me. It was a windy 40 degrees when we arrived! Brrrr!Thank goodness I brought my winter coat! Shay and Roben-Marie were not impressed! Speaking of those 2 fabulous gals, we had such a wonderful two days running all over St. Pete, eating good food, having good conversation (even entertained a nearby elderly man with all of our women woes while eating breakfast one morning!), made time for some art play, and did a little shopping at a used bookstore. Those girls are absolute gems! I’ve known them online for years, but have gotten to know them, in person, on a deeper level over the last couple of years.
I got to check out this graffiti store, Artissin, before Harrison and I flew back home. The owner, Austin, was so nice and helped me shop for items that I could take on the plane. I got some new mops, poscas, and drippers.
Back home in Chicago > For all you locals reading…
When we got back- we finally visited Wasteshed, a used art supply store in downtown Chicago. They also have a location in Evanston. I definitely scored with this stash- all for $87. Most of the paint is almost full.
If you are in the area- I highly recommend checking them out and supporting this nonprofit!
And for all you foodies- Elia in Wicker Park is an amazing Turkish restaurant we headed to after shopping at Wasteshed. Great service, good cocktails and the food was… chef’s kiss!
What have you been up to lately, my friend? Let me know below!
Much love + creativity!
