I Don’t See Buildings Anymore…

And I don’t see restaurant signs nor peeled paint and posters anymore. I see texture, font, color, and ephemera for me to use in my art. I dove deeper on this in my newsletter. The recap is…I’ve been a recorder of life since I was young. As long as I could hold a camera, I was always ‘the girl with the camera’. (before cameras where on our phone, that is… and before we had phones with out attached cords)

Even when art journaling and painting on canvas wove their way into my heart, I never gave up capturing and collecting in the places I visit. It’s in my blood.

The hubs and I were out for some amazing lunch last week (hello, Aba!) and I snapped these photos while walking around the West Loop in downtown Chicago.

I wanted to share these with you and ask what are you drawn to first? Texture, color, font, composition….?

I also wanted to invite you into a little art prompt.

PROMPT: Choose One Photo + Pull 3 Things
Pick one photo. Pull out one color, one texture, and one shape. Use those three things to start a journal page.

I absolutely want to see what you create! Please share over at The Studio Table and let me know that this was the ‘1 photo/3 things’ art prompt so I can cheer you on!
